How do you count the number of words in a document? The Edit Programs have a tool for counting the number of words?
If you work with Word, all you have to do is go a Menu>Tools>Word Count.
What happens when the document I want translating or correcting is not in an Edit Program?
Translators and proofreaders work better with edit programs, because corrections can be entered more easily. However, at l’Apòstrof we also correct and translate documents that come to us in other formats (HTML, Flash, Power Point, Excel, InDesign, etc....), including paper, with application of the corresponding surcharge.
When does the “urgent” fee apply?
L’Apòstrof adapts to its clients’ needs, so when a client requires work to be done before the usual date of completion and delivery (which is assessed according to the length and complexity of the work), the corresponding increment is added to the fee.
What is a certified translation?
A certified translation is one that is regarded as legally valid by any authority (ministry, court, academic institution, etc...) and which is done by an officially certified interpreter or translator whose name figures on the Register of certified interpreters and translators of the "Secretaria de Política Lingüística" (Secretariat of Linguistic Policy). This certified translation is duly signed and sealed by an authorized translator.
Who does the corrections and translations into languages other than Catalan or Spanish?
Texts that come to us in English, French or Italian, or texts to be translated into these languages, are always handled in collaboration with l’Apòstrof by translators with years of linguistic experience and whose mother tongue is one of these languages.
How are the fees for design, drafting and editing work determined?
For this type of work, l’Apòstrof meets personally with the client to discuss the work in detail, assess its complexity and take any variables involved into consideration. Once the work has been assessed, l’Apòstrof provides the client with an estimate.
Do you handle books, magazines...?
L’Apòstrof undertakes the entire editing process of a book or magazine, or any part of this process required by the client. Drawing up an entire publication process, designing it, drafting articles or taking photographs are just some of the tasks that can be commissioned.
Do you do printing?
Yes. Although l’Apòstrof in itself is not a printer, we have been working with a reputable printer for more than ten years, which enables us to oversee the final production stages – the printing - of a book or magazine.
What standard of quality is required for published photographs?
This depends on the medium. If the photo is for publication on a website, resolution does not need to be greater than 72 ppi. If the medium is paper, the image should have a resolution of 300 ppi.
